Survival Mode is an installation that explores chronic illness, near-death experience, and temporal identity. The work combines a weathered bathtub, 15ft cyanotype prints, video from 2 years of pain-management baths, and ongoing collections of food and medical waste to capture my existence through nearly life-ending illness. The interdisciplinary nature of this piece alludes to different aspects of my 4th-dimensional presence. Cyanotypes capture impressions of my actual physical form, video replays copies of old light I once reflected. These continually building piles of trash and medical waste serve as an effigy of myself.
